Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of SAF & Renewable Diesel from Renewable Feedstocks
Evaluating the Environmental Impact of Low-Carbon Fuel Alternatives
Sector: Sustainable Fuels | Bioenergy | Transportation
Project Objective
To perform a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Renewable Diesel produced from various renewable feedstocks, including waste oils, forest residues, and ethanol, in order to assess environmental impacts and determine carbon intensity (CI) for regulatory compliance and voluntary sustainability claims.
Feedstocks Assessed
- Used Cooking Oil (UCO)
- Forest Residues (wood chips, bark)
- Corn- and sugarcane-based Ethanol
- Tallow and Animal Fats
- Agricultural Residues (e.g., bagasse, rice husk)
Methodology
Framework
ISO 14040/44-compliant LCA approach
